iPhone SE2: Apple finally launches follow-up for the much loved SE with a smaller, cheaper phone
A new iPhone for under £500? You'd better believe it

After years of rumours, it¡¯s finally happened: Apple has announced its follow-up to the beloved iPhone SE with the new iPhone SE2.
Though there were concerns that the coronavirus pandemic would prevent Apple from releasing a second-generation SE device, it appears those issues were unfounded.
With a 4.7-inch screen and the return of TouchID, this harks a return to the smaller, more compact iPhones that were loved for so long.
Speaking about the launch of the new iPhone SE2, Phil Schiller, Apple¡¯s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said: ¡°The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance and affordable price; the new second-generation iPhone SE builds on that great idea and improves on it in every way — including our best-ever single-camera system for great photos and videos — while still being very affordable."

iPhone SE2: small design is back
The current iPhone 11 Pro Max screen runs to a massive 6.5-inches, but the new SE2 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display which is much easier to handle. The display also has some fun features, such as haptic touch for Quick Actions, functionality for animating Live Photos, and True Tone which adjusts the white balance on the screen for a more natural viewing experience.
The new SE2 comes in an aluminium durable glass design with all-black front that features the familiar Home button of past iPhones. On the back, the new SE2 will come in three colours, black, white and red, and boosts one camera on the back.
iPhone SE2: only one camera

The radical return of the home button is also complemented by the fact this iPhone only has one camera lens on the back of the device. But Apple says this is enough, in fact the SE2 camera is the best single-camera system ever found in an iPhone, so it should be better than the iPhone XR.
The 12MP wide camera uses the image signal processor and neural engine as the iPhone 11 range so it can still take impressive portrait mode images and night shots. The 7MP front camera also draws on this tech to take great portrait selfies, whilst you can also capture high quality video using the rear camera in 4K.
iPhone SE2: it¡¯s all about the chip
The pull of the iPhone SE2 is that it features the same A13 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro devices, but in a much smaller body. This is a chip built for battery efficiency, photography, gaming and augmented reality experiences, so though it is a lot cheaper, Apple hasn¡¯t scrimped on the power.
Apple has also included the dual SIM function in the SE2 too, which is handy for people who have two numbers either for travelling abroad or for using as a business device.
